Roger Sanchez feat. GTO - "Troubleman"
Stealth Records announces its next release, this time from the label boss himself, Roger Sanchez. “Troubleman” is the first single off of the house legend’s much anticipated upcoming album Roots, and its sound marks the official return to Sanchez’s foundation in house music. The S-Man has re-united with two old friends for the track: GTO, who was the voice of his classic “Turn On The Music” and house heavyweight DJ Sneak, who takes control of remix duties.
Towards the end of last year, Roger started to show the direction he was going musically with the sounds of his radio show, Release Yourself compilation, and “Take You There”, his collaboration with Prok & Fitch. Now with “Troubleman”, Roger truly reveals the direction of his upcoming album.
In the Original Mix of the track, Roger uses old-timey piano sounds, a long build with a big swing, and all manners of layered percussion that lead up to a huge drop. GTO delivers a soulful vocal performance, with a bluesy, old-school melody that resonates with the sounds of the prohibition era.
Just when you didn’t think the track could get funkier, Sneak proves us wrong with his remix. He uses the best parts of GTO’s vocals with a different approach, and combines Roger’s old-timey piano sounds with an innovative and contrastive style. This one is definitely for the house heads.
With his upcoming Release Yourself ’13 compilation, Roots album, summer residencies at Space Ibiza, Cavo Paradiso and Ministry of Sound amongst others, Roger proves himself to still be on the top of his game and a true pioneer of house music.
“For me, this album is about going back to my underground roots, everything from deep house to a little bit of tribal, but modernizing it.” – Roger Sanchez
Look for “Troubleman” to be released exclusively on Beatport May 20, and iTunes on June 11. Roger’s upcoming album Roots to be released on Stealth Records in late 2013.
