John Dahlback, 'Life (Diamonds in the Dark)': Exclusive Song Premiere


Swedish DJ John Dahlback puts a fresh new spin on his single with singer Agnes Carlsson.

What do you do when you have a hit instrumental track on your hands?
For many EDM producers, the answer lately has been a simple one: “Get Pitbull.” But if Pit isn’t available, why not try a recognized vocalist? With the addition of a Ryan Tedder topline, Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso made fan favorite “Calling” into an even bigger hit, “Calling (Lose My Mind).”
Now, Swedish DJ and producer John Dahlback is attempting the same feat with “Life” (originally released in Feb. 2012)  with the lush vocals of fellow Swede Agnes Carlsson.
“She’s one of the biggest pop stars in Sweden,” says Dahlback of Carlsson, “So for me it was a big honor to have her on the track. This may not be what she’d do normally, but she’s very happy with the result.”
The original track’s winding synth line and bubbling buildup made it a main stage staple throughout the summer festival season. BBC Radio 1 host and dance music demigod Pete Tong even declared it an “Essential New Tune.” Now renamed “Life (Diamonds in the Night),” the new version features a simple, very singable verse that only adds to the euphoric drop. Dahlback is also pleased with the remix package that will accompany the February 25 release. Together with label Big Beat, Dahlback selected remixes from Australian upstarts Feenixpawl, fellow Swedish DJs Lunde Bros., and Canadian electro-house artist Lazy Rich.
“We didn’t go with the most well-known artists,” Dahlback explains. “I always want to give up-and-coming talent a shot as well.”
Feenixpawl’s remix, which Dahlback cops to playing most in his DJ sets, gives the verses a minimal feel, only to up the drama after the drop with chopped-up vocals; Lazy Rich goes heavy with a R3hab-inspired chainsaw synth line; and the Lunde Bros. deliver a stripped-down take on Dahlback’s original melody.
“We want to cover all bases with this [release],” says Dahlback. It’s feat he and Big Beat no doubt accomplished.

 2013 es un año de celebración para el DANCING IN MY HOUSE. Cumplimos 10 años ininterrumpidos haciendo bailar al mundo con la mejor música clubbing del momento. Esta era y es nuestra principal finalidad, con un programa fresco, alegre, dinámico y lleno de novedades y exclusivas que no se pueden escuchar en las otras radios convencionales.
Iniciamos la aventura el 14/11/03 de una forma amateur y por puro hobbie musical, sin que nadie nos escuchara y con una duración de 45 minutos. En cada temporada nos fuimos superando y subiendo un escalón más alto. Durante estos años han pasado colaboradores espontáneos que han querido formar parte de la familia del Dancing en algunas temporadas. Hasta llegar a la actualidad , con una duración de 2 horas donde se emite el programa en mas de 40 radios nacionales e internacionales (México, Portugal, Italia, Argentina, Reino Unido), mas de 30 sellos discográficos y mas de 30 djs colaboradores que nos envían sus EXCLUSIVAS para ponerlas en nuestro programa de radio. Y cada día recibimos más peticiones de colaboración. Señal que lo que hacemos, lo hacemos bien.
Para festejar esta celebración queremos que vosotros participéis en nuestra fiesta y en nuestro aniversario. ¿Cómo?. Presta atención, si eres dj profesional, dj amateur, dj colaborador del Dancing  ahora tienes la oportunidad de mostrarnos tu creatividad musical y aportar tu granito de arena.

To celebrate this we want that you take part in our anniversary. How?. Pay attention, if you are dj professionally, dj amateur, dj collaborator of the Dancing, now you have the opportunity to show us your musical creativity and to contribute your sand granite.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE WITH OUR ANNIVERSARY?
a) It realizes an Intro for the program of the DANCING IN MY HOUSE, with the music that you want, the sound effects that you create suitably, the voice and text that you should want and with a duration of 45 seconds. It tries to do her with a quality of acceptable sound. ESSENTIAL that there to is listened clearly DANCING IN MY HOUSE RADIO SHOW. You can take as example the one that we have at present in the program of this period.

    Hoxton Whores – The Morning After (2013, Great Stuff)



    La plataforma Great Stuff, el sello comandado por el alemán Tomcraft, nos trae su nueva release; un maxi que, como es habitual, va destinado al baile sin concesiones ni misterios, y es que los autores del mismo, el dúo londinense Hoxton Whores, son unos autenticos expertos en facturar hits pisteros por doquier.
    En este The Mornig After vamos a encontrar precisamente eso, tech house listo para hacer temblar salas; como bien queda demostrado en Mirror, una pieza que se acerca al funk distorsionado y groovy de grandes del french groove como Daft Punk, Cassius o Etienne De Crecy, pero que se remata con un toque melódico que lo asemeja al house progresivo y post trancero.
    El segundo de los temas, Curitiba, sigue la estela del tech house colorista, esta vez yendo hacía un ritmo garajero, decorado con elementos tribales y una cierta esencia electroide, esto último acrecentado gracias al buen juego de loops que porta.
    Este sello nos lleva de nuevo hacia terrenos pisteros con su nueva release.
